Expanded Poetry, Agglomerated Poetry. Solo exhibition by
Alessandro De Francesco at Dreiviertel art space in Bern,
Switzerland, curated by Anna Fatyanova, April 2024.
"In
this exhibition at Dreiviertel, poetry opens a space in the space,
bringing people together. Language becomes environment and movement.
Books become sculptures. Sculpture is not sculpted but part of
nature. Voice disappears in its texture but a spoken choir brings it
back, and a digital ghost inhabits the room, carrying a poem for
everyone." (Alessandro De Francesco)
The opening featured a choral
reading-performance (with Ido Chae, Laila Dell’Anno, Maurice
Ehrensperger, Sergio Leitao, Erin Mallon, Anna Christina Möll,
Giulietta Mottini, Oscar Vaurs, and Dario Zeo).
The
exhibition was conceived from Alessandro’s artist/poetry book “And
Agglomerations, of Trees or”, translated from the Italian by Max
Norman, published by Mousse in 2022 and produced by Marco Mazzi /
Villa Rondinelli.
One text from the book inhabited the Mixed Reality interactive installation And I conceive the morning while you talk to me.
Other books by the artist were
exhibited as pieces in their own right, together with a sound
installation, Il grande canto sciamanico
for digitally processed spoken voice (listen
HERE), and a
sculptural piece of the Objets cherchés series.
